Our Adoption Story

We intially created this website to update family and friends about our journey to adopting a baby from Taiwan. We traveled to Taiwan in December 2005 and brought home our wonderful baby boy, William Ke-Fan. The blog has been such a hit with family and friends that we have decided to continue it.

Adoption Day

On December 21, we celebrated William's adoption day. It's hard to believe that we were in Taiwan one year ago, meeting our son for the first time. The past year has flown by so quickly. William has changed so much since then that it is hard to believe that it has only been a year. We have really enjoyed watching William grow and discover the world around him.

William got a kick out of this cute snowman cake. We pointed out its eyes, nose, mouth, hat and tummy. He thought it was hilarious to look at as the cake slowly lots parts of its face and body.

We bought several gifts for William's adoption days while we were in Taiwan. This year, we gave him a small pair of chopsticks and a framed poster of Taiwan labeled in Chinese (I'll have to add a picture of the poster later on). He liked the chopsticks and was especially fascinated by their plastic case. He really went after his fried rice with his chopsticks. I was surprised at how quickly he picked up on the idea of scooping up his food with both chopsticks in one hand. With a little practice, he will be using them like a pro.

We also gave him this fun ball. I know it's not Taiwanese, but he sure does love to play with it.
