Our Adoption Story

We intially created this website to update family and friends about our journey to adopting a baby from Taiwan. We traveled to Taiwan in December 2005 and brought home our wonderful baby boy, William Ke-Fan. The blog has been such a hit with family and friends that we have decided to continue it.

Going out

Well, we have taken two outings now with William. The first was down the road to eat at a noodle stand and then to go to the supermarket. We fed him right before we left hoping that he would fall asleep on the way. However, this was his first time in a stroller and he didn't really like it much at first. Angela had to walk in front of him so that he could see her. Even with that, we ended up carrying him for more than half of the time out.

Our second trip, we stopped to take pictures of Mackay Memorial Hospital. This is where William spent the first ten days of his life. We thought it would be neat to have some pictures of him in front of this hospital.

We spent quite a while looking for the same brand formula that the Jonah House had given us for William. We thought we were going to have to switch to another brand. People had told us that this brand wasn't really used much anymore and that we would have trouble finding it in the supermarkets. Someone suggested looking at a pharmacy. As luck would have it, we found the same brand at a pharmacy that was just a block away from the hospital.

After the hospital district, we headed to the Danshui night market. It was quite an experience for Allen. He couldn't imagine a place that would allow motorcycles and cars to drive through it like that.

Amongst all the vendors, we stumbled upon a chop shop. No, they don't sell car parts. They sell the stamps that the Chinese use to sign official documents. Chops are used in place of a signature on things like bank slips and mail receipt forms. We had two made for William with his Chinese name on them, Ke-Fan.

As you can see in the above picture, William slept through most of the market. He didn't fuss even once all night.
