Our Adoption Story

We intially created this website to update family and friends about our journey to adopting a baby from Taiwan. We traveled to Taiwan in December 2005 and brought home our wonderful baby boy, William Ke-Fan. The blog has been such a hit with family and friends that we have decided to continue it.

The Invisible Red Thread

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break."

Angela came across this Chinese proverb over a year ago while researching a 100 wishes quilt for some friends of ours. They had just announced their decision to adopt a child from China. Amazingly enough, learning of their wonderful news was the first step in our own adoption journey. Since that time, we have learned that this proverb is often associated with adoptions from China and Taiwan. Our friends left on Friday to adopt their daughter, Karin Elise Bi-Hong. So, it is only fitting to post this proverb as they meet their daughter for the first time.

Another family from our online group also traveled this week to adopt their son, Kai Luke, from Taipei. We are so fortunate that families like this one are willing to take pictures for those of us who are still waiting to travel. Here are the pictures that they took of William yesterday.

It should be about time for another update from Cathwel. Hopefully, we will have more pictures and information to share with you in the next week or two.
