Our Adoption Story

We intially created this website to update family and friends about our journey to adopting a baby from Taiwan. We traveled to Taiwan in December 2005 and brought home our wonderful baby boy, William Ke-Fan. The blog has been such a hit with family and friends that we have decided to continue it.

October Update

We had lots of pictures this month. It is great to see William lifting his head up and moving around. He definitely seems more active than in his other pictures. Will was around 4 to 4 1/2 months old in these pictures. He turned 5 months old this past Wednesday.

William is still in the 25th percentile for height and weight. He was a little over 14 lbs at the end of September. He is gaining about a pound a month. So, it continues to look like we will be bringing home an 18-20 lb baby at the beginning of next year.

The caregivers are feeding William some food, in addition to his formula. We asked our coordinator to translate and were surprised to find out that he is now eating rice noodles. We were expecting rice cereal. Really, we shouldn't be surprised. It is Taiwan, after all.

This is the first picture that we have of Will being held. It is nice to know that he has some human interaction, other than just "talking" over the wall to the babies in the next bassinet.

Our international adoption specialist has been really impressed with the level of care so far. He said that these pictures are some of the best that he has seen. He also commented that the orphanage seems to pay close attention to detail.

We were thrilled to see this last picture. We sent Will some clothing, along with the toys, blanket, picture, and note that you see here. We think that he wore himself out playing. It is wonderful to see something from our world enter into his.
