Taking the train to Taichung
Allen picked up Will's passport with his IR3 visa on Wednesday afternoon so we were free to leave Taipei on Thursday. We took a train to Taichung, where Angela's cousin and her family live. The 2 hour trip was very comfortable and the rocking motion allowed William to sleep most of the way there. The hardest part of the trip was dragging along our luggage. Even though we only took about half of our total luggage with us, we still had trouble carrying/pulling it all with us.
As it turned out, the MRT stations are much better equipped to handle luggage and strollers. We arrived at the Main Taipei MRT station and went through the transfer station for the train. We were amazed to find out that the gate that we entered does not have an elevator to or from the train platform. We had to transport our luggage and stroller (with William in it) up the escalator. We were hesitant to do this because of the clearly marked signs telling us not to. However, the train station employees insisted that this was the only way that we could get everything up to the train platform. It was quite a sight to see! Too bad we were too upset to take any pictures at the train station.
