Our Adoption Story

We intially created this website to update family and friends about our journey to adopting a baby from Taiwan. We traveled to Taiwan in December 2005 and brought home our wonderful baby boy, William Ke-Fan. The blog has been such a hit with family and friends that we have decided to continue it.

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa

I realize that it has been quite a while since my last post. I decided I better post some new pictures and info before I forget what has happened over the last two months.

We visited my parents last month for 4 or 5 days. What used to be a 7 hour drive now takes 8 hours with a baby. We had to stop a time or two extra and our lunch stop took longer since we had to feed William and ourselves. I was worried about William getting bored or crying during the drive, but it wasn't too bad. He slept most of the time and I was able to play with him when he was awake.

We were able to see my sister and her fiance for an hour or so before they left to head back home. I had planned on taking more family photos, but was only able to get a few during our trip. Here's one shortly after we got there.

It took William a while to warm up to my mom again. I think she was a little sad after spending the first three weeks with us. Eventually, he let her hold him again. He really liked the Step and Play Piano (entertainer/exersaucer toy) that she bought for him.

My brother also came into town for a couple of days to meet his nephew for the first time. Being the youngest in the family, it will probably take him a while to get comfortable around a baby.

My dad also met William for the first time during this visit. It was wonderful to watch them together. William took to him right away, which is really unusual. Usually, it takes him a good hour or two to warm up to someone new. By the end of the day, he had fallen asleep with my dad at least twice.

My dad absolutely loves his first grandchild. He took TONS of pictures of William. Unfortunately, I only got one picture of them together.

We visited a cousin and her family while we were in town. Her youngest son is only a few months older than William. It was neat to watch them play together.

Here are some more pictures from our trip:
