Our Adoption Story

We intially created this website to update family and friends about our journey to adopting a baby from Taiwan. We traveled to Taiwan in December 2005 and brought home our wonderful baby boy, William Ke-Fan. The blog has been such a hit with family and friends that we have decided to continue it.

Visiting Sara, Alex, and Emily

We stayed with Angela's cousin and her family in Taichung for three days. On Friday, Angela and her mother went to Emily's school and watched her class perform "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed." It was very cute. Below is a picture of Emily and some of her classmates. She is second from the left.

The kids were all fascinated by Angela since they don't have the opportunity to interact with foreigners very often. A group of them worked up the courage to ask her several questions like "What do people like to eat there (meaning in the US)?"

Sara and her family were kind enough to take us out to eat several times while we were staying with them. We ate at a Japanese restaurant. It was excellent--very different from the Japanese restaurants in the US. Sara said that it is also different than the Japanese food that is available in Japan. Apparently, many Japanese tourists prefer the version available in Taiwan.

We also ate at a pizza place and a teahouse. The pizza is a little different than we are used to--they don't use any tomato sauce. They also have a lot of Chinese dishes available there, like noodles and rice. The teahouse was beautiful. Unfortunately, we forgot our camera that evening.
