More May Pictures
After my dad left on his business trip, we went on an overnight trip with my mom. We took William to the state aquarium and to the beach. He loved the animals at the aquarium. They have a dolphin tank with an underwater viewing window and William was fascinated. It was quite the challenge to get him to stay still while I took his picture with the dolphins swimming in the background.
It was so fun to watch William's first time at the beach. The first evening, we weren't really prepared for him to swim. We had planned to eat dinner, walk on the beach for a little while, and then head back to our hotel room. However, William had such a blast splashing through the water. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he couldn't play in the water because we didn't have any swimming diapers or a change of clothes. By the time that we got him back to the car, her was soaking wet!
The next day, the water wasn't quite as calm as the evening before. So, he spent the afternoon playing in the sand. We were all sad when we had to leave the beach and head back to my parents' house.
We had such a fun trip. William had lots of firsts in May--his first trip to the zoo, his first time at an aquarium, and his first time playing at the beach. What a great beginning to the summer!
We saw lots of fish (of course), sea turtles, and other animal exhibits. The coolest thing for me was the tank where you could pet baby sharks and sting rays. The stingers have been clipped so that you don't get hurt when you pet them. William pet the sharks with no problem, but he took quite a bit of coaxing before he showed any interest in touching the sting rays.
